3CX and Odoo
3CX connects to Odoo itself, from Version 20 Update 10. As a call comes in, the caller's name comes up from Odoo, calls and chats are logged on their contact, and staff call a number in Odoo with one click. We set up the 3CX side.
What it does in Odoo
Built by 3CX and kept up to date by 3CX when the CRM changes.
Names the caller
An incoming number is looked up in Odoo, among your contacts and your companies in the order you choose, and the name shows in 3CX as it rings.
Searches Odoo from 3CX
Find a contact by name, number or email from the search in the 3CX Web Client, without switching to Odoo.
Logs calls and chats
Answered, missed, in and out, written to the Odoo contact as call and chat records, in wording you set. Web chats match on email, SMS and WhatsApp on the number.
Adds new callers
When a number is in neither 3CX nor Odoo, staff can create the Odoo contact from the 3CX app.
Calls with one click
Click a number in Odoo to call it from your own extension, with 3CX's Click2Call extension for Chrome and Edge.
What it needs
3CX Pro or AI, Version 20 Update 10 or later
CRM integration is on the Pro or AI edition, and Odoo arrived with Update 10. Basic does not include it.
Odoo on its Custom plan
Odoo opens its API, which 3CX connects through, only on the Custom plan. On its free plan or Standard it cannot connect.
Odoo you host yourself
3CX does not say whether Odoo Community, Odoo.sh or an Odoo on your own server works with it. Ask us, and we check yours before you buy.
Phone numbers Odoo can match
A call is logged only against a number Odoo knows. Matching can be exact or on a set number of digits, which helps where some numbers are saved as 07… and some as +254…

Your Odoo administrator
- Creates an API key in Odoo, under My Preferences and Security, and gives us the database name.
- Tells us the address of your Odoo.
Yours to arrange
Odoo itself and the plan it needs, and a Pro or AI licence for 3CX if you are on another edition. Once it runs, a Business or Premium support plan keeps it working; on Essential or without a plan, a fix is a remote incident.

Questions about 3CX and Odoo
Does 3CX work with Odoo?
Yes. From Version 20 Update 10, Odoo is built into 3CX and maintained by 3CX, so there is no CRM template to keep up and no third-party app in between.
Which Odoo plan do we need?
Odoo's Custom plan. 3CX connects through Odoo's API, and Odoo opens it only on Custom, not on its free plan or Standard. We check your plan with you before you buy.
Is this the same as Odoo's own Phone app?
No. Odoo's Phone app makes calls inside Odoo through providers Odoo lists, and 3CX is not one of them. With this integration your calls are made and answered in 3CX, and logged in Odoo.
We already use a 3CX connector from the Odoo Apps Store.
Those are not the integration 3CX maintains. To move to 3CX's own, 3CX says to remove the existing connection first and then add the Odoo one. We do both on the 3CX side as part of the setup, and test calls and chats on a few of your contacts.
Are call recordings saved in Odoo?
The call log can carry a link to the recording, if you record calls and the wording of the log includes it. The recording itself stays in 3CX.
